Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy, Resources and Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:LYC), which rose 12.01% or 0.79 points to trade at 7.37 at the close. Meanwhile, Iluka Resources Ltd (ASX:ILU) added 5.10% or 0.56 points to end at 11.54 and Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:PLS) was up 4.55% or 0.20 points to 4.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG), which fell 3.81% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.51 at the close. Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:KGN) declined 3.53% or 0.16 points to end at 4.37 and Appen Ltd (ASX:APX) was down 3.18% or 0.10 points to 3.04.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 666 to 652 and 403 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.04% to 12.88.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.15% or 2.95 to $2,027.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.40% or 1.00 to hit $72.34 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.29% or 0.97 to trade at $76.27 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.55% to 0.68, while AUD/JPY rose 0.75% to 91.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 100.89.
