Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.14%

Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the GoldA-REITs and Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Invocare Ltd (ASX:IVC), which rose 12.08% or 1.34 points to trade at 12.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:SLR) added 7.88% or 0.08 points to end at 1.10 and News Corp B DRC (ASX:NWS) was up 5.05% or 1.31 points to 27.27 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH), which fell 21.14% or 0.39 points to trade at 1.46 at the close. Elders Ltd (ASX:ELD) declined 13.25% or 1.10 points to end at 7.20 and Nanosonics Ltd (ASX:NAN) was down 8.93% or 0.50 points to 5.10.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 753 to 528 and 444 ended unchanged.

Shares in Elders Ltd (ASX:ELD) fell to 3-years lows; falling 13.25% or 1.10 to 7.20.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 1.22% to 11.91.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.24% or 4.85 to $2,024.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $70.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $74.13 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.71% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.85% to 90.96.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 102.33.
