India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Technology and Metals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 3.12% or 6.05 points to trade at 200.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.66% or 86.40 points to end at 3,335.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 2.43% or 15.70 points to 660.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 2.29% or 11.35 points to trade at 485.20 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) declined 1.93% or 32.10 points to end at 1,629.65 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was down 1.80% or 15.20 points to 830.45.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 3.01% to 200.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 2.73% to settle at 3,339.20 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 2.65% to close at 1,643.25.

The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.98% to 1,629.05 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 1.73% to settle at 5,722.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.71% to 920.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1283 to 773 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2010 fell and 1632 advanced, while 165 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.62% to 10.84.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.10% or 1.85 to $1,948.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.64% or 0.58 to hit $90.60 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.52 to trade at $94.45 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.26% to 83.30, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 88.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 104.88.
