India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.62%

India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Power sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.62% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.56%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which rose 2.40% or 35.30 points to trade at 1,503.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) added 1.04% or 33.70 points to end at 3,259.30 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 1.04% or 74.05 points to 7,211.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 2.17% or 127.90 points to trade at 5,779.25 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 1.94% or 27.65 points to end at 1,397.50 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was down 1.92% or 15.75 points to 806.60.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 2.36% to 1,503.80, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 1.04% to settle at 3,259.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 1.04% to close at 7,208.70.

The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 2.11% to 5,778.50 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 1.89% to settle at 1,397.80 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.79% to 2,639.45 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1269 to 735 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2039 fell and 1467 advanced, while 119 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.27% to 12.08 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.95 to $1,945.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.18% or 0.93 to hit $79.98 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.98 to trade at $84.34 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.10% to 82.66, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 89.25.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 104.04.
