India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.61%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 18.92% or 370.05 points to trade at 2,326.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 6.05% or 41.60 points to end at 729.70 and Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 5.38% or 166.70 points to 3,265.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST), which fell 0.90% or 195.35 points to trade at 21,494.80 at the close. Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 0.78% or 7.25 points to end at 916.80 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 0.77% or 20.85 points to 2,692.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 3.03% to 1,104.45, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 2.50% to settle at 395.65 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 2.37% to close at 3,297.95.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 1.01% to 21,479.15 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 0.76% to settle at 917.50 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.50% to 801.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1018 to 941 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1806 fell and 1684 advanced, while 166 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.17% to 12.57.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.05% or 1.00 to $1,980.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $71.62 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.06 to trade at $75.52 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 82.87, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 89.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 102.96.
