Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.41%

Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the TransportTrading and Glass sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.41%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Marui Group Co., Ltd. (TYO:8252), which rose 15.24% or 330.00 points to trade at 2,496.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yokogawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6841) added 9.77% or 220.00 points to end at 2,472.00 and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7011) was up 6.07% or 315.00 points to 5,508.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541), which fell 10.36% or 194.00 points to trade at 1,679.00 at the close. NTN Corp. (TYO:6472) declined 10.14% or 35.00 points to end at 310.00 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211) was down 9.83% or 52.00 points to 477.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2517 to 1070 and 253 ended unchanged.

Shares in Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) fell to 52-week lows; falling 10.36% or 194.00 to 1,679.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.65% to 15.77.

Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.80% or 0.59 to $73.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.79% or 0.61 to hit $76.83 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 6.40 to trade at $2,036.50 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 135.35, while EUR/JPY rose 0.29% to 148.63.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 101.33.
